telc B1 writing gives you one task in 30 minutes. Read the input and respond to its requested points. The important skill is producing a coherent reply for that reader, not fitting every task into the same memorized letter.
Read the input as a real message
Identify the relationship between writer and recipient. Note every required point, then arrange them in a sensible order. You may connect related ideas in one paragraph, but check that none disappears. Add a short reason or example when it helps the recipient understand you. Follow the actual prompt’s length guidance rather than a word count from an unrelated exam.
Original task: answer a friend’s invitation
Sophie invites you for a weekend visit. In this original learning task, thank her, describe when you can arrive, suggest an activity and ask what to bring. It is not an official telc task. The model shows how to connect the points; it does not claim a particular exam score.
Liebe Sophie, vielen Dank für deine Einladung. Ich freue mich, dass wir uns wiedersehen. Am Freitag muss ich bis 17 Uhr arbeiten. Deshalb kann ich erst am Samstagvormittag kommen. Der Zug kommt gegen zehn Uhr an. Wenn das Wetter gut ist, könnten wir eine Fahrradtour machen. Du hast mir von dem See in deiner Nähe erzählt. Dort würde ich gern hinfahren. Bei Regen können wir zusammen kochen. Soll ich etwas fürs Frühstück mitbringen? Ich könnte Brot und Obst besorgen. Sag mir bitte auch, ob ich mein Fahrrad mitnehmen soll. Liebe Grüße Anna
The arrival paragraph explains the constraint and gives a usable time. The activity paragraph includes a condition and an alternative. The final questions make preparation easier for the host. For another task, change the information and structure where needed. Copying the cycling paragraph into an invitation about helping somebody move would miss the purpose.
Revise for the reader
Check all requested points first. Next check paragraph order, connectors and consistent du or Sie. Then check verb endings, word order and spelling. Ask a partner to summarize your main message. If their summary differs from your intention, revise the unclear sentence before adding more advanced vocabulary.
