Goethe A1 Writing: Forms and Short Messages
Practise Goethe A1 writing with an original form scenario and short message. Check each required point, personal detail, greeting and closing.
A1 writing includes simple form information and a short message. Read the scenario before entering a name or date: the form may concern somebody else, not you. In the message, answer the required points using language you can control.
Read form labels before copying information
Distinguish Vorname from Familienname, Wohnort from Geburtsort and arrival from departure. Copy only the information requested by a field. If the scenario gives a stay from Friday to Sunday, a field asking for the number of nights needs a count, not the departure date. Check numbers twice after filling the form; a fluent sentence elsewhere cannot repair the wrong telephone number.
Original form drill
Anna lives in Bonn and wants to attend a course in Köln. She is free on Tuesdays. Fields: Wohnort, Kursort, Kurstag. Correct entries: Bonn, Köln, Dienstag. This original drill shows why copying the first place name into every location field fails. Ask a partner to change the city and day, then repeat without looking at the earlier answer.
Original message with three clear points
Practice prompt: Invite Max to your home. Say why, give the time and ask him to bring something. This is an original learning task, not an official Goethe question. Follow the word guidance printed on the actual exam prompt; the example illustrates content and sentence structure.
Lieber Max, am Samstag habe ich Geburtstag. Ich mache eine kleine Party zu Hause. Komm bitte um 18 Uhr. Kannst du etwas Brot mitbringen? Ich freue mich auf dich. Viele Grüße Anna
The message gives a reason, a specific time and a request. It uses du because the recipient is a friend. For an unfamiliar office, choose a suitable formal greeting and Sie. Keep the message focused: adding a long description of your job does not help the invitation.
Final check
- Find one sentence for every prompt point.
- Check the person, date, time and place against the task.
- Include a greeting and closing.
- Read each sentence aloud in practice: can you understand it without adding missing words?
